We went over the homework problems that were due today. Here are the answers:
1. accel = 7.31 m/s/s
2. Thrust = 119.4 N up
3. Accel = -0.59 m/s/s, from the information given in the problem it is impossible to determine the direction of motion.
We then discussed different strategies for applying Newton's 2nd Law. Students worked on this document to get some guided practice. Most students finished in class, but it is due for the next class period.
Finally we discussed the equation for friction, and connected back to a video we watched in the beginning of the year involving a cane.
